Saint of the day, February 14 – Zeale

St. Valentine was a holy priest who assisted martyrs during the persecution of Christians under Claudius II. Tradition holds that he risked his life to marry couples in a Christian way and was eventually apprehended by the prefect of Rome for his defense of the Sacrament of Matrimony.

When Valentine refused to renounce his faith, he was beaten with clubs and beheaded.
